Soy del área de la
bahía en California, pero actualmente vivo en Spokane, WA.

v ¿Cuál fue la primera escena que viste en tu mente
de Wicked Devil?
La escena con
Dominique y Allie. Esa escena fue la que despertó todo el libro para mí y
fue algo que para mí fue muy profundo y necesitaba ser
experimentado. Tuvimos un 2020 muy accidentado y estaban sucediendo muchas
cosas en el mundo, que las personas que no son de color no podían
entender. Esa escena fue incómoda y me hizo SENTIR cosas al escribirla,
así que era mi esperanza que, independientemente de la raza, mis lectores
sintieran lo que las personas de color en el mundo de hoy sienten en
situaciones como esta.
v ¿Por qué decidiste escribir sobre la escuela
secundaria y un jugador de fútbol?
Me encanta escribir
personajes más jóvenes, de escuela secundaria y universidad. Porque pasan
muchas cosas durante estos años. Cometemos nuestros mayores errores, pero
también experimentamos el mayor crecimiento y es solo un rango de edad que
realmente disfruto cuando se trata del desarrollo del personaje. Fútbol
porque realmente quería una relación de tipo "chica nueva" vs
"deportista" y el fútbol es un deporte con el que me siento cómoda y
disfruto de manera personal
v ¿Por qué querías expandirte al mercado español?
Yo misma soy
mexicana y mis personajes son mexicanos, siento que la representación importa y
quería que mis libros fueran accesibles para las personas que son como yo.
v ¿Fue difícil manejar los temas delicados que se
mencionan en la novela? ¿Cómo te preparaste para ello?
Sí y no. Gran
parte de mi escritura se centra en lo que considero problemas de la vida
real. Así que en lo que respecta a la historia, no. Es fácil porque
para mí, solo tiene que suceder. Mis libros deben ser representaciones
precisas del mundo en el que vivimos. La parte difícil es simplemente
superarlo emocionalmente y no ser un choque de trenes, así que trato de
escribir esas escenas en los días en que mis hijos están fuera en la escuela o con
un amigo para que no me interrumpan.
v ¿Cuál es tu diablo
favorito?
Román
siempre será mi favorito, creo. Él fue mi primero, así que tiene un lugar
especial en mi corazón.
v ¿Puedes compartir con nosotros un buen recuerdo que
tengas con tus lectores?
Ser reconocido por
primera vez en un evento de lectura fue un gran hito para mí. Nunca pienso
en cuántas personas han leído mis libros, pero cada vez que me presento y
alguien comenta que están familiarizados con mi trabajo, siempre me hace
sonreír y me hace sentir que "realmente lo estoy haciendo", estoy
llegando a la gente y están disfrutando de lo que he creado.
v ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas escribiendo?
Comencé a escribir
en 2014 y lancé mi primer libro en enero de 2015.
v ¿Cómo comenzó tu pasión con los libros?
De hecho, comencé
como blog de libros en 2011 y, finalmente, eso se hizo como una especie de bola
de nieve hasta que terminé escribiendo los libros yo misma.
v ¿Género de libro favorito?
Voy por
sabores. En este momento estoy leyendo mucho de oscuros harenes diversos
de abusivos, pero eso probablemente cambiará a romance paranormal por un tiempo
y luego tal vez algunas comedias románticas. Tiendo a pasar por olas de
género.
v ¿País que te gustaría conocer?
Me encantaría
visitar Australia algún día. O tal vez Italia. Solo quiero ir sobre
los mares y experimentar la vida en un continente diferente.
v ¿Algún nuevo proyecto en camino?
Tanto. Tengo
varios libros nuevos programados para 2022. Estoy traduciendo lentamente
mis libros de los Diablos de Sun Valley High, así que espero que algunos libros
más en español estén en el horizonte. Y también estoy traduciendo mis
libros al alemán, por lo que 2022 será un año ocupado con seguridad. Sin
embargo, probablemente estoy más emocionado por Promesa Cruel, que será la
conclusión de la historia de Dominique y Kasey.

Which was the first
scene you saw in your mind of Wicked Devil?
The scene with Dominique and Allie. It sparked the
entire book for me and was something that for me was just very profound and
needed to be experienced. We had a very bumpy 2020 and a lot was happening in
the world that people who aren’t of color were unable to understand. That scene
was uncomfortable and it made me FEEL things when writing it so it was my hope
that regardless of race, that my readers felt what POC in the world today feel
in situations like it.

Why did you decided to
write about high school and football player?
I love writing younger characters. High school and
college. Because so much happens during these years. We make our biggest
mistakes but we also experience the most growth and it’s just an age range I
really enjoy when it comes to character development. Football because I really
wanted a “new girl” vs “jock” type of relation and football is a sport I’m
comfortable with and personally enjoy.

Why did you wanted to
expand to the Spanish market?
I’m Mexican myself and my characters are Mexican and I
feel like representation matters and I wanted my books to be accessible to
people who are like me.

Was it difficult to
handle the sensitive topics that are mentioned in the novel? How did you
prepared for it?
Yes and no. So much of my writing centers on what I
consider to be real life problems. So as far as story goes, no. It’s easy
because to me, it just needs to happen. My books need to be accurate
representations of the world we live in. The hard part is just getting through
it emotionally and not being a train wreck so I try to write those scenes on
days when my kids are away at school or at a friends so I’m not interrupted.
v Which one is your favorite devil?
Roman will always be my favorite I think. He was my first
so he has a special place in my heart.

Can you share with us a
good memory you have with your readers?
Being recognized for the first time at a reader event
was a huge mile stone for me. I never think about how many people have read my
books but every time I introduce myself and someone comments that they’re
familiar with my work it always makes me smile and makes me feel like “I’m
really doing it” I’m reaching people and they’re enjoying what I’ve created.

writing?
I started writing in 2014 and release my first book in
January of 2015

How did started your
passion with books?
I actually started as a book blogger myself back in
2011 and eventually that kinda snowballed into me writing books myself.

Favorite book genre?
I go through flavors. Right now I’m reading a lot of
darker bully reverse harems but that will likely change to paranormal romance
for a while and then maybe some rom coms. I tend to go through genre waves.

Country you would like
to meet?
I’d love to visit Australia one day. Or maybe Italy. I
kinda just want to go over seas and experience life on a different continent.

Any new projects on the
way?
So many. I have several new books slated for 2022. I’m
slowly translating my Devls of Sun Valley High books so hopefully a few more
Spanish books will be on the horizon. And I’m also having my books translated
into German so 2022 will be a busy year for sure. I’m probably most excited for
Cruel Promise though, which will be the conclusion of Dominique and Kasey’s
story.
